- Li-ion secondary battery is semi-permanent chemical battery which can repeat charging and discharging. Nowadays, it is used widely for portable electronics like mobile phone, laptop computer and Energy storage. In future, it is expected to be a main power for Electric Vehicle(EV).
Non-carbon anode R&D
- Currently, we are researching maximizing anode material's high capacity and long cycle life. We are developing silicon based anode material, which has its maximum capacity of 4,200 mAh/g, comparing carbon's 372mAh/g maximum capacity.
- The anode material for the next generation Li ion battery should be one that can be alloyed with Li, Sn, Al and Si have much higher theoretical capacities than graphite, with Si in the Li4.4Si formation having the highest theoretical capacity, 4200 mAhr/g. In case of Si, as Li insertion and extraction continues, the performance fades rapidly because of volume change of about 310% taking place during charging and discharging.
- EG is a carbon coating of a certain thickness on the surface of the classified silicon particles and optimizes the Carbon Nano Fiber(CNF) on top of it to control the volume expansion stepwise when silicon reacts with lithium.
Core skills(patents)
- "The method of producing a carbon composite silicon anode active material, whereby a silicon carbon composite negative electrode active material and a lithium secondary battery comprising the same produced by"
- [patent applications, 2016.05.13]
Comparison with existing anode material
- Comparing with all existing anode materials, EG's solution of anode material is showing much better for its capacity.
Nanoscale silicon
- We are researching and selling Nano-sized silicon powder with fast production and low price with dry production facility.
- ㆍBy optimizing producing condition, we can control particle size almost even, which can have the best performance when it is adopted to the actual products.
ㆍAs the first development in the world, we developed 200 nano-scale high purity silicon powder production system.
